Paulo Carvalho

I'm a PhD student in Cognitive Psychology at Indiana University, working in the Concepts and Percepts Lab. I'm originally from Portugal, where I studied Experimental Psychology at the University of Minho. After finishing my MS degree, I was awarded a Fulbright Research Fellowship and moved to the Midwest, where I learned what the word winter really means.

My research deals mostly with how people learn new concepts and categories and how the way information is presented has an impact on learning. I'm mostly interested in understanding what makes some study sequences more effective than others and which learning situations benefit the most from the way information is presented. In the future I hope such research can be used in the design of educational resources in both formal and informal educational settings.
